Looks Under Pressure In The Entertainment Industry

These days, we’re used to celebrities and Hollywood stars always looking amazing. Boasting beautiful outfits and immaculate makeup, it’s baffling that they have time to do anything other than make themselves look good. To ordinary people, it seems like no matter where they are or what they’re doing, they always look perfect.

However, we all know that isn’t real life. It takes serious time and money to be able to look pristine every second of every day, and at the end of the day, the pressure to look good is constant. Unfortunately, it can be harmful to celebrities that find themselves in this kind of position, as well as to the public who are made to believe that these high beauty standards are normal.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look nice. If you’re the type of person who enjoys dressing up and takes pride in their fashion, that’s great. However, it’s really important that these expectations aren’t pushed onto people who don’t share this kind of passion. If you’re somebody who enjoys the simple things in life, practical clothing and that sort of thing, you shouldn’t feel that looking less glammed up influences your value at all. And it certainly shouldn’t lead people to change the way they look at you!

Unfortunately, this is often how people in the limelight feel, and the repercussions are potentially harmful.

How Expectations Affect Celebrities

As if living in the spotlight isn’t tiring enough, having your every move monitored, celebrities are regularly judged and ridiculed for the way they look. Whether they’re spotted running an errand in comfy clothing or perhaps they don an outfit that doesn’t go down well – they simply cannot do anything without the world having something to say about it.

And this just isn’t good for anybody’s mental health. Even if you’re a fashion fundi who is known for their fancy getups and funky hairstyles, the pressure to maintain that kind of image is immense.

At the end of the day, celebrities and public figures are also just normal people living their day-to-day lives doing everything we do, from taking a shower to playing at an online casino South Africa. Sure, they have more money and their schedules may be a little different, but the constant pressure to look good can take away the potential they may have had to relax and just be themselves.

The Negative Influence of the Expectation of Perfection on Normal People

On the other hand, for ordinary people to see celebrities showcasing their perfect lives, beautiful faces and flawless bodies can have negative affects too. Especially for teenagers and young adults, having to witness so-called perfection being portrayed as the norm is unhealthy – it often leads to people having poor self-image and constantly wondering why they don’t look as good as the people they see on television. Meanwhile, celebrities spend hours and hours and loads of money to look that good!

Transparency is Key

At the end of the day, the best thing everybody can do is just be honest – about what is normal for them and what took many hours and loads of money. That way, everyone can have slightly more realistic expectations.
