At the time of writing, Spring is just days away. By the time you get to read this article, it may well already be here!
The arrival of Spring means that the hat, scarves and other winter garments are cast to the attic for the next eight months. However, it should also mean that you take several more precautions with your beauty regime, which needs to be fine-tuned by the season.
Let’s now take a look at some classic skincare guidance to abide by now Spring is upon us.
SPF becomes even more important
In truth, it doesn’t matter whether it’s winter or summer; your primary beauty products should all contain a touch of SPF. Of course, as the warmer months come upon us, SPF levels also need to step up. SPF 15 might be considered acceptable for the cooler months, but as soon as Spring comes around the corner, you should look to up the ante to SPF 30.
Some people will do this via an out-and-out sunscreen, while others will look for a specialist SPF moisturizer the next time they are out and about in Covent Garden. Either way, this is key advice if you want to protect your skin, come rain or shine.
The same rules apply to your lips
Whenever the topic of SPF is breached, we automatically think of our face. The lips are almost neglected.
As it turns out, it’s just as important to turn to them. Their needs are changing; in the winter months, you will have been piling on the lip balm to stay on top of dryness. Now summer is here, make sure they receive sufficient SPF to protect against all of the sun-related issues that dermatologists always warn us of.
Shed your winter skin
One of the biggest problems that most of us face during winter is dry skin. For reasons obvious to everyone, 2020 has probably been a little kinder to us in this respect, for the simple reason that we haven’t been able to get out and about as much as we’d like.
Nevertheless, now is the period of the year where you will be stripping back and showing slightly more skin. As such, start the season by exfoliating. It will remove any dead skin cells and provides you with a much fresher image.
Understand your allergy triggers
One of the most frustrating elements of a spring beauty regime is allergies. In some ways, you have little control over them. After all, you could have the best beauty regime going, but if your body reacts badly to typical spring allergies, it’s almost going to all be for nothing. Puffy eyes will start to become commonplace, as will all of the other common skin side effects.
Unfortunately, allergies can be difficult to stay on top of. The best thing you can do is understand what triggers them and adapt accordingly. Granted, medication can also be prescribed to tackle the allergies, but if you know how and when they start, you’ll be able to preserve your beauty-regime no-end.
