For many of us the gradual easing of restrictions is a very welcome thing and means that we can start to have a bit more freedom and flexibility in our lives! For anyone that has a special occasion coming up it’s the perfect opportunity to get planning and if you have your wedding anniversary coming up in the next few months you will be wanting to organise something exciting to celebrate this with your partner! There are a number of things that you need to consider when planning a celebration, so we have put together our top five factors that you need to think about, in order to ensure that your wedding anniversary celebration is amazing.
The first thing to think about when you are planning an anniversary celebration is to think about the number of years you have been together and what memorable milestone this represents. There are certain themes and gift ideas for each year anniversary so this is something to take into consideration when planning your celebration as you will be able to combine this into your theme or ideas.
Budget
As with any big celebration or event one of the first things to consider is your budget. It’s important that once you have set your budget that you stick to it to ensure that you don’t overspend! The celebration you choose to have might be larger if you are celebrating an important milestone anniversary, such as 20 years together. In this instance you might want to increase your budget and spend a little more.
Type of celebration
Once you have set your budget, you need to think about what type of celebration it is that you want to have for your anniversary. You may choose to hire a venue and invite your closest family and friends to share in the day with you. There are lots of options for this, such as a sit down meal or you could just have a big party with everyone! If you choose to have a formal, sit down meal with everyone, you could look into finer details such as having live music playing throughout the meal; this would add a really nice, elegant touch to the event.
Choose your guest list
Once you’ve decided on the type of celebration that you’d like to have you will need to think about who you want to invite. Remember to take into account your budget, for example, if you are planning on having a formal meal to celebrate, then you may want to limit your guest numbers to around 15 depending on your budget. It’s a nice idea to invite those people who were part of your wedding party, so you can invite your bridesmaids, best men etc.
Choose your venue and date
For most people the date that they choose to celebrate their anniversary will be their wedding date, however if this falls on a midweek date, then you may want to move the celebration to a weekend when it’s probably easier for more people to attend. Something to think about when choosing your venue is what day you are going to hold it. Many venues will be busiest at weekends especially if you are planning to hold your celebration at a venue that also does weddings and events. This is something to take into consideration and perhaps look at alternative days or even a smaller, more intimate venue instead.
Entertainment
The entertainment that you decide to have at your anniversary celebration will depend on the type of event that you are planning. As I mentioned previously, if you are planning a meal with friends and family, you may want to opt for some elegant, background music while you are eating. This is a nice alternative to having music playing on an iPod and you can request your wedding music to be played by the musician too, to add a personal touch. If you have decided that you would like to have a big party rather than a meal there are lots of options for entertainment that you can choose from. You might choose to have a live band to play, or you could hire a DJ who can make sure that all your favourite songs are included on the playlist!
