CBD has been endorsed by doctors, athletes, and celebrities. And still, so many people seem to know very little about it. Some have a primordial fear of everything cannabis and have written off the compound altogether. But they could be making themselves a huge disservice. Instead, it would be wise to get the facts on CBD so you can know what it is and what it’s not. Here are some of the things people get wrong about CBD.
CBD will get you High
That is not true. CBD doesn’t get you high, THC does. Recent changes made to the farm bill mean that only CBD that is derived from industrial hemp is legal. It also has to contain less than 0.3% THC. This will ensure that it isn’t psychoactive.
There’s no Research
Again, not true. While cannabis’s legal status has done a lot to limit the amount of research, what we have right now is very conclusive. The WHO reported that CBD has been demonstrated as a good treatment for epilepsy. The same report stated that there is preliminary evidence that it could help with things like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. It also stated that it can help with depression and pain.
Another very famous study found that people who took CBD before a public-speaking event reported having much less stress afterward. They also showed lower physical stress indicators.
CBD has the Same Effects on Everyone
However, while CBD has been proven to work, it won’t work the same for everybody. The way it will work will depend on factors such as your genetics, general health, and your endocannabinoid system.
Some use CBD to lift their mood and get through the day, while others may want to use it for sedation. This means that you will have to choose your route of administration and dosage accordingly.
If your goal is to fight anxiety, we suggest you start with a 2.5mg to 10mg dose. However, if you want to use it as a painkiller, then you might need to look at much higher doses. It’s not uncommon for some people to take 160mg in one dose for that purpose. So that’s something you’ll need to take into consideration.
There’s Only One Type of CBD
That is very wrong and could have a significant impact on your experience. CBD products can be very different from one another. You have full-spectrum products and you have CBD isolate.
CBD isolate is the compound alone. You might think that it’s a good thing, but CBD works better in synergy with other materials found in the plant. This is what is called the entourage effect.
This is why it’s usually recommended that you use full-spectrum products. Isolates, however, can be a good option if you want to use them for cooking or add them to meals or beverages as their taste is largely undetectable.
We hope we were able to clarify a few things for you about CBD. Before forming an opinion, do your research on what it truly is, and don’t be afraid to ask for second opinions.
