Wimbledon is the birthplace and home of tennis. It’s an affluent residential district in Southwest London filled with stunning scenery, vintage boutiques, and traditional pubs. Besides being the go-to place for tennis fans, it’s home to the most massive patch of common land in London, providing a unique open countryside vibe while still being situated in the middle of a bustling city.

There are plenty of gorgeous estates, hotels, and small residential homes in the humble town, ideal for families, couples, or eager travellers. You can consult with licensed letting agents to get the best deals and grab the perfect place for your specific needs. These professionals will walk you through the letting process, rents, show you around the properties and help you find the best temporary home for the best vacation ever.

Wimbledon is an excellent vacation destination if you love marvellous sceneries, culture, nature, and fresh air. Here are five reasons why you should add Wimbledon to your next vacation itinerary.

Wimbledon Common

Wimbledon is home to the largest tract of heathland in London, boasting an area of over 1,100 acres. Its ample space allows you to enjoy any outdoor activity here, from horseback riding to playing golf. You can also visit Rushmere and Kingsmere for water-related activities such as canoeing and kayaking.;

If you want to take a break from a bustling city for a while, but don’t want to stray away too far, visiting Wimbledon Common is the best place. It’s a quiet paradise in the middle of the city.

Wimbledon Windmill

You can find this historical windmill at the heart of the Wimbledon Common, established in 1817. It’s now open as a museum since its restoration in 1975, providing visitors with a glimpse of Wimbledon’s history.

The lower level of the windmill covers the history and development of mills, filled with antique millwright equipment, miniature models, and a video room. The upper levels give you more detail how the windmill worked alongside a mortar, staddle stones, hand querns and grains, allowing visitors to make flour from scratch.

Wimbledon Theatre

The New Wimbledon Theatre is an enduring landmark situated on the town’s Broadway. It’s an antique building established in 1910. This theatre is one of the most luxurious and most extensive in London, providing an excellent venue for live entertainment.

Wimbledon Village Stables

One of the best reasons you should visit Wimbledon is the air of affluence and almost endless scenes of greenery. Pair up these factors with horseback riding, and you’ll be riding like royalty in this well-wheeled town. You can enjoy authentic horse riding with gorgeous mares and stallions at Wimbledon Village Stables, which is one of the oldest stables in England. You can go horseback riding with a group or on your own at a higher price.

Wimbledon Farmers’ Market

Enjoy local cuisine at Wimbledon’s farmer’s market, which usually happens in Wimbledon Park Primary School. The market features several local organic producers, providing some of the freshest fruits and vegetables around. You can expect to enjoy different products with the changes in seasons. For instance, May brings strawberries, while July offers cherries.

Although Wimbledon is famously known for a haven for tennis players, there’s more to the humble town. It’s the perfect place for individuals that appreciate culture, nature, delicious food, friendly locals, and a great time.
